Capital emirates will start a new helicopter patrolling
service by Abu Dhabi police to improve the road safety. The patrolling will be
done in the Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Gharbhiya areas. The helicopter with
cameras will fly over these areas when there is more traffic.
The news was announced by Abu Dhabi Air wing Police Director
Pilot Ali Mohammed Al Mazroei. The helicopter patrolling service will hover
around the city for 3 days in a week and may increase the frequency in future.
Air wing helicopter will accommodate two pilots, one doctor
and one thermal imaging device operator. The central operations room of Abu Dhabi
police will get the real time images from the cameras in the copter. Policemen in
control room can contact airwing police officers via terrestrial trunked radio.
Patrolling in the night is also possible with the help of thermal
imaging device in the air wing helicopter. The doctor in the copter is useful
to take care of the persons involved in the road accidents and the copter can
be used to airlift the patients to hospital in emergency situations.
