Al Hisn Sharjah Fort is situated in the center of city of
Sharjah in an area known as Heart of Sharjah. The fort was built in 1820 by the
late Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi. The Fort stands as a real masterpiece of
old Arab heritage and architecture.
The building was once partially removed as part of some
structural modifications in the city of Sharjah that had undergone during 1969
period.
However, the building was later rebuilt, exactly to its original design model and style under the instruction and guidance from H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The Al Hisn Sharjah fort is now open to the public as a
museum. The building was once the residence of Sharjah Ruling Family and the
house played an important role in the development of the emirate of Sharjah. The
house had witnessed several social, political, commercial and military
developments and changes in the region.
Al Hisn Sharah Fort as a museum
is divided into several sections as follows:
Ground level of Museum:
The fore front of ground level has a custody room, the
morning entrance, Mahlousa tower and Al Qasimiah library. The eastern section
includes rooms for (1) Events in Sharjah (2) Teaching (3) Faces from Sharjah
(4) Sharjah city (5) Pear trade, and (6) Acquisitions.
Upper level of Museum:
This level includes a Weapons' Storage room where Khanjars, swords,
daggers, etc. are exhibited. Other rooms are Ruler's living room, room for Sheikhs’
and nobles, Project room, Rest house and a VIP room.

Timings: 9 am to 1 pm & 5pm to 8pm
Fridays: 5pm to 8pm (closed on Mondays)
